General Function:
The Kitchen Helper is responsible for cleaning all dishes, utensils and kitchen / food preparation equipment, as well as general sanitation and organization of the YMCA Camp Campbell kitchen.
An understanding of basic food service knowledge must be employed by the Dish Washer to effectively and safely clean and sanitize the kitchen.
The dish washer will also assist with kitchen activities as instructed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwashers or by hand.
Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.
Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition.
Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving.
Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars.
Sweep or scrub floors.
Clean garbage cans with water or steam.
Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas, by hand.
Follow health and safety standards.
Highly organized and detailed oriented and have the ability to prioritize work load.
Able to work with a team.
Able to stand for long periods and have the ability to life at least 50 pounds.
Flexible in shifts they are able to work.
Able to use hands and arms to handle, position, move materials, and manipulate things.
Work environment may call for standing, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching throughout the work shift.
The physical demands of the position include:
Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to climb, push, and pull.
Ability to move with a sense of urgency and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to work a full shift (with breaks) in a standing position.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

One (1) year experience as a food services professional preferred.

Available to work up to 32 hours weekly with varied shift times, as late as 8pm and as early as 6am over the course of a 7 day week.

Ability to acquire county food safety and sanitation certification
SALARY RANGE: $18.
