Since 1973 our healthy food program has delivered 110 million pounds of food to Santa Cruz County seniors, veterans, families, and farmworkers.
Come join our team! Essential Functions: • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Sort, stack, and store cleaned items in appropriate areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping countertops, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Assist with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling and chopping vegetables, as directed by the kitchen staff.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure the availability of clean and sanitized dishes and utensils during meal services.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and follow proper sanitation procedures to prevent contamination and maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when restocking is needed.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment by following proper cleaning and sanitation protocols.
*Qualifications:* • Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a similar role is preferred but not required.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff.
• Willingness to follow instructions and learn new techniques and procedures.
• Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation principles.
• Availability to work on weekdays from *8:30 am to 1:30 pm-Wednesday through Friday*.
• Must be able to come to work on time every scheduled workday as well as other days as needed.
• Must be comfortable working with a diverse population especially senior citizens.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with customers and traffic and be able to move safely and provide a high degree of customer service.
• All Grey Bears employees must know and follow job safety procedures, attend safety meetings and trainings, proactively promote safety at work, and promptly report actual and potential accidents and injuries.
Physical Requirements: • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot and humid environment.
• Able to lift and/or move 20 pounds on a regular/occasional basis.
• Ability to perform essential physical job functions typically requiring bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing for long periods of time, walking, walking on uneven surfaces, handling objects, tools, or controls, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder level, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and using fine finger movements with manual dexterity.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision.
Must adhere to safety standards and wear appropriate equipment to include safety shoes, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
