*Job Description:* Under the supervision of the Early Education Center Site Supervisor, the Early Education Center Cook primary role is to prepare quality meals for the children while following the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) grant requirements and all food safety standards.
*General Duties & Responsibilities* Create monthly menus according to CACFP guidelines Post and distribute menu to EEC staff Shop for all items needed to prepare meals Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food according to CACFP guidelines Ensure proper food handling and utilization of all foods to prevent contamination, increase quality and reduce cost Follow and maintain mealtime schedule Keep the kitchen clean according to CACFP meal patterns Maintain standards of kitchen cleanliness including food service equipment and food storage areas Collect and wash all dishes, bottles, pots, and pans while following proper cleaning procedures Complete all paperwork (Meal Production Sheets) daily as required by CACFP Store food and supplies away in proper storage areas, labeled with dates Ensure all food in the refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage are labeled and dated according to CACFP Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards Other duties as assigned *Minimum Qualifications* Ability to use the computer, computer keyboard, and other office equipment Ability to operate office equipment (phone, copier, printer, scanner, etc.
) Ability to fill out forms required for CAFCP program Attend CACFP training years (or as needed) Must have a valid ( and current) Infant and Child CPR and First Aid Card or obtain within 2 weeks of hire.
Agency is willing to pay for hire to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Excellent written and verbal English language skills Good organizational skills (capacity to assess, prioritize and manage tasks simultaneously) in a face paced and ever-changing environment with minimal supervision Ability to problem solve complex issues *Highly Desirable Qualifications* Previous experience as a cook Experience with CAFCP paperwork and requirements helpful Basic knowledge of food groups and nutritious meals for children Bilingual/Bi-literate (English/Spanish) Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) *Other Requirements* Must pass a Live Scan background/fingerprinting check before starting employment If this position requires driving on behalf of the agency, a DMV background check will also be required.
Presentation of current driver’s license and proof of insurance is required upon hire and throughout employment if driving on behalf of the organization.
