*ORGANIZATION:* Mountain Parks Foundation (MPF) is a nonprofit organization that has been working in partnership with California State Parks for over 50 years.
Our mission is to provide resources that enrich visitors’ experiences by expanding their knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment and cultural heritage of Henry Cowell and Big Basin Redwoods State Parks.
*POSITION DESCRIPTION:* We are a small nonprofit seeking a highly skilled retail management assistant to support our thriving Nature Store within Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
This position will assist the Retail Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the store in accordance with contractual agreements with California State Parks and in alignment with MPF’s mission.
Desired candidate is a fast learner who excels at interpersonal communication and has a flair for retail operations.
Candidate should be confident with technology and be able to navigate Microsoft Excel and Word.
Demonstrated collaborative skills and reliability a must.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: *
Assist with recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of Nature Store volunteers including managing volunteer staffing in the store.
* Cover retail shifts as needed if volunteers not available
* Work collaboratively with Retail Manager to ensure adequate and appropriate inventory.
* Assist Retail Manager to ensure accuracy of merchandise pricing and inventory counts.
* Maintain safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of Nature Store.
* Ensure welcoming, attentive customer service is available to all Nature Store visitors.
* Assist Retail Manager with troubleshooting, financial reconciliation, and error correction as needed.
* Assist Retail Manager in overseeing Lightspeed Point of Sale system and provide training to retail and administrative volunteers as needed.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and organize, coordinate, and prioritize workload.
* Must be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
* High level customer service skills a must.
* Self-motivated, positive, and personable.
Must be a reliable self-starter.
* Excellent computer skills, must not be intimidated by technology.
* Must be able to lift 30 pounds and access overhead storage.
* Prior retail buying and management experience highly desired.
* Experience with Lightspeed Point of Sale a plus.
* General knowledge of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park a plus.
