*Position Summary:*
Retail staff are to assist customers, ring customers up, take phone orders, take orders in store, keep the bakery tidy, clean, well stocked and attractive.
(Additional $5 - $6 per hour in tips)
*Purpose:*
The role of Buttery retail staff is to sell product to our customers.
Retail staff needs to be able to answer questions, keep the front of the house clean and neat and sell what is made in the back of the house.
Retail staff will be the only employees the customers interact with and as such their primary responsibility is to ensure all customers receive good service and have an enjoyable experience at The Buttery.
Retail staff achieves this goal through fast, courteous, knowledgeable service and by maintaining a clean, pleasant atmosphere.
*Requirements:*
* All employees need to be able to lift 35 lbs and should expect to be on their feet for 6-8 hours a day.
All employees need to be able to bend down and reach up.
* All retail employees must be able to read and write in English, know basic math and have legible hand writing.
* Some flexibility is required with regard to scheduling, employees will be given regular schedules after their introductory period but those schedules are not permanent, they are subject to change with the employees notification.
* Some shifts start as early as 5:00 A.

and some end as late as 5:00 P.
M.
management will try to be accommodating but employees need to be able to work all shifts.
* Holidays are the busiest time at The Buttery and as such all employees are expected to work.
Employees may be required to work more than their normal schedules during the holidays.

* All staff must be courteous & polite to customers at all times.
* Employees need to follow the dress code and be neat in appearance.
* Employees need to be able to work well with others.
* All employees are expected to follow Buttery policies and procedures.
* Duties will include but not be limited to: cleaning, answering the phone, busing tables, taking orders, using POS system, stocking, carrying cakes, being punctual, doing simple arithmetic and making change.
* If an employee is going to be sick or late they must call in at least 3 hours before their shift starts unless unable to do so.
* Employees need to learn the café, catering, barista, cookie, cake, pie, and pastry menus.
* Employees need to learn how to work at the barista station and how to make drinks
