SUMMARY: Housekeeping personnel are employed to maintain the interior of buildings in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

CLEANING Abide by the principles of good housekeeping and sanitation practices Follow and perform daily schedule of tasks/routine.
Routinely clean surfaces such as furniture, floors, walls, ceilings, supply and exhaust grills and lighting fixtures, primarily in resident rooms and bathrooms.
Performs essential Janitorial and laundry duties as needed.
Maintain equipment in good working order at all times.
Report any necessary repairs to the Unit Coordinator or Manager.
Identify housekeeping equipment and supplies that need to be ordered.
Mop heads shall be removable and changed at least daily.
Report any dangerous conditions observed, including medications or weapons in rooms or any dangerous behaviors demonstrated by a resident.
Report excessively dirty or malodorous rooms to Unit Coordinator.
Service closets and storage areas will be kept clean and maintained.
Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards and observe common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities.
Must have the ability to enter and exit the building maintaining resident safety.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REPORTING Mandated to report any suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders directly to manager, law enforcement, Adult Protective Services and/or Patient’s Right Advocate.
This position will be located Santa Cruz, CA.
This is an On-Call position.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, skill, or ability required to perform the job.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience in a similar setting may be required.
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge and conformity to all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, state and local laws, rules and regulations including Department of Health Care Services, and Title 9.
Principles of good housekeeping and sanitation practices.
Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, sensitivity, confidentiality and patience in dealing with residents and the general public.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, speak and understand English enough to meet the requirements of the job.
Ability to write general correspondence and procedures associated with cleaning and sanitation preferred.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, residents, and the general public preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, and percentages associated with completing the requirements of the position, if any.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Competent in dealing with problems involving several variables in different situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities and complete tasks and meet deadlines and priorities.
Must demonstrate cultural competency.
Must maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with residents, co-workers, county representatives, contractors and all others contacted during the course of work.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 18 years of age.
If required to drive, must be 21 years of age with a Valid California Driver’s License and company vehicle insurance eligibility and approval and enrollment in the Department of Motor Vehicles Employer Pull Notice Program is required.
Fingerprint and cleared by Department of Justice and FBI.
TB test with documented results may be accepted if less than 6 months old.
TB tests with written results are required annually thereafter.
Must receive and adhere to CAL OSHA training as mandate by State Law and or company policy.
Attend mandated meetings and trainings.
Must work in a safe and acceptable manner, following established safety procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time.
Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers.
The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch and may occasionally be required to crawl.
Employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
All staff to be in good health, and physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENTS: Employee may encounter while performing essential job functions.
Noise level is usually low to moderate.
Possible contact with hazardous and caustic household cleaning chemicals.
The actions of clients may be unpredictable.
Staff may be verbally assaulted and at times may be physically injured.
Employee may be interacting with individuals diagnosed with a mental illness.

Staff may experience verbal abuse and at times may be physically threatened.
